Syntax: selfdestruct Technology is indeed precious, and the price of such is often great. When captured, the last ditch defense in military tactics is to smash the controls of the vessel even at the cost of your own demise - if this objective alone is completed, then death is acceptable. It may be called 'cheap,' it may be called 'crude,' but it is entirely effective. It is unrealistic to believe that a ship would not have such a defense to protect the ship itself. It is impossible to over-ride, the reactor coolant will disperse and the ship itself will explode in three sequences - on a side note, self destruction on a landed ship will cause a massive explosion.
